Behind Palazzo Pitti extends the beautiful Boboli Gardens. I Medici were the first to take accommodation, creating a prototype of “Italian garden” that became a model for many European courts. The vast area is a veritable outdoor museum with antique and Renaissance statues, large fountains, natural and artificial caves architectures conceived as genuine scenes like that, lovely, built by Bernardo Buontalenti. The fascinating paths allow you to capture the spirit of the court life and together to enjoy the experience of a garden that is always renewed while respecting its tradition.

The Garden can be accessed through 4 entrances: main entrance of Palazzo Pitti, Via Romana 37 / A (Annalena), Porta Romana, Forte Belvedere. Starting in February 2016, the concierge and access by Annalena will be closed to the public during the first Sunday of the month free.

The Porcelain Museum

The Porcelain Museum is located at the top of the Boboli Gardens and is housed in the eighteenth-century Palazzina del Cavaliere, conceived by the Medici family as a “mess of delights”, in which they gathered the Academicians del Cimento (the first association of scientific studies inspired Galilean method). On display are beautiful porcelain collections across Europe by the Habsburgs Lorraine, together with collections received by the Treasury from the Savoy residences of Parma, Piacenza and Sala Baganza well as a remarkable number of pieces produced by the Manufacture of Shower, founded by Marchese Carlo Ginori in 1737, commonly known as Richard Ginori following the merger of the late nineteenth century with the Milanese manufacture Richard.
